Thanks to waste segregation, less waste goes to landfills, and those that can be recycled are re-processed. Put segregated rubbish into containers marked with appropriate colours. Check what waste should be placed in each container, and what you must not throw into them.

Blue Bins For Recycling: Paper

In the blue waste segregation container you can put:

  • paper,
  • newspapers, magazines, advertising newspapers, leaflets,
  • catalogues,
  • books, notebooks,
  • paper and cardboard packaging,
  • cardboard boxes, corrugated cardboard.

Remove staples, paper clips, and plastic covers from the paper tray. Remember that the waste paper should be dry and grease-free.

Yellow Trash Cans: Metals And Plastics

You can put into the yellow waste segregation containers for plastic and aluminium (metal):

  • crushed and empty plastic beverage bottles (without caps),
  • caps for bottles and jars
  • crushed and empty plastic packaging after art. food, cosmetics and household chemicals (without caps),
  • plastic items, polystyrene,
  • crushed aluminum soda cans,
  • metal tin cans and preserves,
  • crushed multi-material cartons of milk and drinks (without caps),
  • bags, plastic films,
  • foil bags, bags,
  • fruit baskets,
  • fine ferrous scrap and fine scrap of non-ferrous metals.

Make sure that all yoghurt containers, cans of preserves, cartons of juices and milk are washed and dried. Remember that food scraps go bad quickly, especially in hot weather, and garbage is not taken out very often.

Also, don’t forget to crush them before throwing them into the container, so they will take up less space.

You can also meet red waste sorting bins. In them, you can put all the aluminium and metal trash mentioned in the point above.

Garbage Containers: White And Green – Glass Waste Segregation

White and green glass waste segregation containers are used to segregate colourless and coloured glass. So you can post here:

  • tinted and colourless glass bottles (without caps),
  • jars made of coloured and colourless glass (without caps, clamps, and rubber gaskets),
  • glass cosmetic packaging
  • empty glass medicine packs.

As with plastic and metal packaging, keep your glass waste clean and dry. Do not throw broken glass into containers.

Green Containers For Green Waste Segregation

There are often separate green waste segregation containers for green waste (collection from March to November). You can put it into such containers:

  • leaves,
  • mowed grass,
  • shredded branches

To the brown waste segregation containers for mixed waste, biodegradable waste, put here only what could not be separated into segregated waste containers or which cannot be returned to PSZOK or MPSZOK. You can put it in brown rubbish bins:

  • leftovers of vegetables and fruits,
  • coffee and tea grounds,
  • egg shells,
  • the contents of vacuum cleaner bags,
  • food scraps,
  • wilted flowers and potted plants,

Black Trash Cans: Mixed Waste Segregation

You can put it in the mixed waste segregation container, which is black :

  • porcelain, table glass,
  • aerosol packaging,
  • textiles,
  • meat scraps and bones,
  • wet or dirty paper,
  • used hygienic materials, including disposable diapers,
  • litter for animals,
  • broken windows and mirrors.

Very often, the containers for waste segregation, apart from the colours, are otherwise well marked and described. On most of them, you will find information about what you can put in and what you shouldn’t.

The colours presented above are unfortunately not always kept, so it is worth checking each time.
